DIY: Homemade Rosewater

Since ancient times, roses have been considered as regal flowers and used in beautifying treatment. In good old times, kings and their queens used to soak rose petals in their bathtub along with milk. Roses were added not just for a sensuous aroma, but also for their therapeutic benefits. The biggest advantage of using rose and its distilled water is that it suits every skin type- from dry to oily to sensitive. It improves the skin texture, being a natural and mild astringent. Besides, it also rejuvenates and calms down the irritated skin condition. Rose water is also a natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial, and also detoxifies the skin.
Here are a few benefits of rose water that will make you have this ultimate skin tonic in your everyday makeup regimen.
  • Application of refrigerated rose water soothes puffy and irritated eyes. It also helps treat dark circles and other eye-related problems, exteriorly.
  • Fill rose water in a spray bottle and squirt it on your dehydrated and dull face. It has properties to refresh and invigorate the senses while imparting glow and radiance to the face.
  • You can also add some rose water to your bath water for a divine and heavenly experience.
  • Rose water can be used to soften and hydrate the dry skin.
  • It can be used as a natural makeup remover and toner.

Step 2 – Next, place them in a pot and cover them with sufficient distilled water so that petals are well immersed in water. Steam petals with water until the color of the petals is lost completely and the water gets infused thoroughly. This might take 30 minutes to an hour.

Step 3 – As this process is completed, strain the petals with the help of a coffee strainer and press them with a spoon so that they transfer and release their oil into the bowl. Let the water cool down completely. Once it gets cooled down, strain it again and pour the finished product in a spray bottle or jar.
